Acadreamia’s Back to University Checklist

Exams results will be out soon, so a load of you freshers (hopefully) will be heading on down to university. The worst feeling is when you get down to university, and you realise you’ve forgotten something. That is why we are doing a blog post about what you need to take down to university and what you should have sorted! And for you returning 2nd and 3rd years, you should probably pay attention too!

1. Crockey, pots, pans, cutlery, tin opener, spatula, baking tray, glasses, oven gloves, tea towels – The kitchen essentials. Make sure you remember to pack everything you need to live and make food. We recommend going round your kitchen and looking at everything in there to make sure you’ve got the same stuff for Uni.

2. Spare sheets -You need to have spare bedsheets, duvet covers and pillowcases. At some point during your stay, you’re going to have to wash your sheets. You’ll probably hold out and avoid doing it, but its inevitable. That is why you should make sure you have spare one’s whilst you wait for your originals to dry.  Or you can buy a few spares, then just change them and take them back home for your parents to wash. Classic. Oh, and don’t forget to pack towels. That can wind up being a total nightmare if you forget them.

3. Textbooks – Pretty simple this one. University isn’t like school, you need to do a lot of wider reading. And it would be worth your while to rent a few broad textbooks from Acadreamia so you can do some reading before your course starts. Once you get your reading list you can rent all the books on there from Acadreamia, but it would be a good decision to get a few general textbooks for your studies as well.

4. ID – You would think this one is a given, but its actually quite amusing how many people forget to take their ID down to uni with them, or drop it in their parents car on the journey down. You need to have it with you, especially during freshers because bouncers are especially wary during freshers week.

5. Food – Make sure you get your parents to get you a big food shop in before you head down. Buy in bulk! It is much more convenient to have a 24 pack of loo roll, tons of kitchen roll, loads of veg and stuff to snack on, than having to go pick all that stuff up yourself in your second week. It works out much cheaper if you buy everything big.

The list could go on, but we’ll leave it there for now. Don’t forget, if you want to get your textbooks nice and early, or you already have your reading list for the year, rent cheap used and new textbooks from Acadreamia.
